Four-time SUP surfing world champion Luchy Cosoleto of Argentina talks to us about her training, coaching, and competitive approach. Cosoleto describes starting shortboard surfing at seven, switching to SUP surf in 2018 after joining Argentina’s national team, and later winning ISA titles (2022, 2023) and APP events in Gran Canaria (2024, 2025).

She emphasizes that technique matters more than strength, advising surfers to get in the water daily in all conditions, catch lots of waves, and learn to use the paddle correctly for higher scores and stronger maneuvers—especially by compressing deeply for power. We discuss competition tactics, mental routines (writing plans, meditation, observing conditions), cross-training (gym, yoga, Pilates, swimming), lineup etiquette, and her love of riding barrels and goal to qualify for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
